How to Sleep After Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplantation in Turkey is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments. Apart from the frequently performed hair transplantation, beard, mustache, eyebrows, and sideburns are also among the preferred treatments.

Thanks to many advanced techniques such as Sapphire FUE, a truly comfortable process is experienced after hair transplantation, but aftercare is very important.

The most important of these is your sleeping and resting position. Since hair transplantation is an operation, there will be mild discomfort for about a week after the procedure, but this period is very important for the survival of the newly transplanted hair follicles.

We asked Gold City Hair Transplantation Center how to sleep after hair transplantation:
Gold city hair whatsapp“Sleeping position after hair transplantation is among the subjects that almost every patient is most curious about.

This is an important issue because you are likely to cause maximum damage to your new grafts while you sleep.

Any pressure on the newly transplanted areas can damage both the skin around the surgery area and the transplanted hair.

Let's take a look at all the details you need to keep in mind while you sleep or take a nap:

  • The recipient area should be far from the pillow and there should be no direct contact between your transplanted hair and the pillowcase.

  • Lie on your back, not on your stomach. The back should be in an upright position.

  • Head and back should be elevated at an angle of 45 degrees.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face as it will damage your transplanted hair and increase swelling.

  • Another option is to keep the head level above heart level while sleeping. Otherwise, blood backflow to the scalp area will decrease, which may cause swelling or bruising. Sleep with a pillow under your knees to reduce the pressure on the surgical areas.

  • Prolonged sleep can increase stress on your scalp and prolong healing. It is best to take short naps during the day.

All About Pillows After Hair Transplant

As mentioned earlier, try to take short naps during the day. But if you need to sleep longer at night, use a pillow specially designed for hair transplant patients.

These unique pillows contain a gel-like material that helps cushion the head and relieve pressure on the neck muscles. You can use more than 1 pillow to reach a 45-degree angle.
hairIf you can't get this pillow, you can use soft pillows such as memory foam, which helps reduce pressure points in the head area and prevents sweating.

Sweating causes itching and also damages hair grafts. You can put one or more pillows under your pillow to keep your head upright and not damage the newly planted hair follicles.

A neck or travel pillow supports your head and also protects the hair grafts if you roll over at night in your sleep.

Keep Your Pajamas Clean

Care should be taken not to infect the surgical site. Therefore, make sure that your mattress, pillowcases, and sheets are clean.

Avoid cleaning agents that may cause itching or an allergic reaction to the scalp while washing, as it is important not to scratch the scalp during healing.

Scratching damages both the transplanted and donor areas.

When Can I Sleep Normally After Hair Transplantation?

normal sleeping
In one to two weeks, you can usually start sleeping normally. The hair grafts transplanted within these 7-14 days are safe and rooted in the recipient area.

All recommendations will relieve you of discomfort, pain, itching, sweating, and infection.
